Everyone here at The Art of Costume would like to wish a big congratulations to costume designer Jenny Beavan and team for winning this year’s Oscar for Best Costume Design. Jenny Beavan created the iconic costumes of Cruella that captivated the world in 2021.

Jenny Beavan’s work on Cruella brought her eleventh nomination and third win at the Academy Awards. Previous Oscar wins for Jenny came from A Room with a View (1985) and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
After her acceptance speech, Jenny Beavan gave a great interview discussing her inspirations going into Cruella, the importance of her team, the symbolism of her awards outfit, pay equity for costume designers, and she sheds light on movie studios taking advantage of costume designers and their work.
